1296037 Photographic processing apparatus AGFA-GEVAERT 27 Nov 1969 [6 Dec 1968] 58151/68 Heading G2A Photographic processing apparatus has a processing tank 16 which includes a processing chamber 42, 43 defining a horizontal path at a position which is above the level 19 of liquid in the tank for the material to be processed, a pair of transport rollers 35, 36 at the material entry and outlet opening of the chamber, and means arranged within the chamber for directing towards the plane of the path streams of processing liquid, the apparatus further comprising means 52, 53, 56, 57 defining a channel or channels located to receive liquid which leaves the processing chamber through its entry or outlet opening and which descends from between the chamber and the adjacent pair of rollers and to conduct such liquid downwardly into the body of liquid in the processing tank, the cross-sectional dimensions of the channel being so chosen that, in use, the flow of processing liquid into the channel produces a level in the channel which is above the level of liquid in the tank. Channel walls 56, 57 are spaced from walls 52, 53 by spacers 58, 59 and the upper portions thereof are angled at 45 degrees to provide a wide inlet to the channels. Contact with air is reduced by providing floats 61, 62, 63 on the liquid surface in the tank. The liquid is pumped from the bottom of the tank through a filter 39 to the processing chamber sections 42, 43, and the liquid is replenished through opening 30. Several tanks may be arranged along a common path, and more than one processing chamber may be provided in each tank. A hot air drying station may also be provided.
