Abstract
<PICT:1111675/C6-C7/1> A pickling plant for the continuous pickling of strip material 1 comprises a trough 2 which can be divided into channels 2', 2'' and 2''' by movably mounted partitions 3. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates strip 1 passing through a trough with inclined inlet and outlet channels (23), (23'). Acid is supplied at the ends of the trough through a pipe (18), overflows at (16) near the middle of the trough into a tank (19) and is continuously circulated through regenerating means (not shown) by a pump (20). Conveyer rollers (13, 14) are provided in the trough, the lower rollers (13) being entirely immersed and the upper rollers (14) being driven. The pickling apparatus is followed by after-treatment devices such as washing chambers, a neutralizing chamber, a blast drier and an oiling machine. Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) illustrate means for handling empty or full reels at the ends of the treatment line.
