Abstract
1295586 Razors PHILIP MORRIS Inc 19 April 1971 [20 April 1970 25 March 1971] 9917/71 Heading B4B A safety razor comprises a handle assembly 312, Fig. 5, supporting a main skin pressure guard 314, a blade support 316 bearing a blade 120 and mounted for floating movement towards and away from the main guard 314 and biasing means 330 for urging the support 316 and blade 120 towards the guard 314, but permitting movement away from it when the force acting on the guard 314 owing to the shaving pressure exceeds a predetermined amount. The biasing means 330 may comprise a leaf spring 330 adjustable within a collar 331, or a coil spring 736, Fig. 9, acting between the guard plate 714 and a pivotably mounted blade support 716, a stop 738 optionally being provided to limit excessive pivoting; alternatively, Fig. 3 (not shown), the biasing spring (130) may act on the central region of a blade support (116) pivotably mounted adjacent the handle (112). Further, the biasing means may comprise elastic material (not shown), or magnets 530, Fig. 7, of opposite polarity, or magnets (630), Fig. 8 (not shown), of the same polarity may be employed.
