Abstract

1295245 End-finding LEESONA Ltd 3 Feb 1970 [19 Nov 1968] 54737/68 Heading D1J On breakage of yarn being wound on a conical package driven by drum 10, a lever 14, pivoted at 6, is moved by means not specified from position A to position B, closing a valve 16 to prevent flow between the chambers of a double-acting cylinder 15 mounted on the lever 14. The piston rod 20 and an arm 13 thus move with the lever, lifting the package out of engagement with drum 10. Fluid pressure produced by the weight of the arm and the package and its mandrel press a piston rod 18 to act on a brake within the mandrel, stopping rotation of the package. The lever is then moved to position C, opening valve 16 so that piston 19 sinks in cylinder 15, lowering the package onto roller 11 by which it is driven in the unwinding direction. A suction nozzle 12 entrains the yarn end. After joining of the yarn, the lever is returned to position A, a non-return valve 22 in the piston 19 permitting the package to move into engagement with roller 10 without application of the brake en route.
