Abstract

1293544 Filling tanks OWECO Ltd 2 April 1970 [8 Sept 1969] 44236/69 Heading A4T [Also in Division B8] A road or rail tanker filling apparatus comprises fixed end frames 25, along which a track 21 is movable by fluid rams 24 to position the track 21 over the tanker, and a number of filling pipes 26 which are movable along the track 21 to position one or more of them over the tanker inlet and are then downwardly movable to cause them to enter the inlet. The filling pipes 26 are rotatably mounted on plates 27 having rollers 28 running on the track 21 and are movable along the track in either direction by causing a lever with inclined rollers 32, 38 to tilt and to cause one of the rollers to contact a constantly rotating shaft 30. The pipes may also be moved by endless chains, fluid rams or by a fluid driven pinion engaging a rack under the track. The pipes are lowered into the tank by a fluid ram and run on tracks 54 (Figure 6) and are counter balanced by weights and cords 57 in tubes 53. The pipes 26 have buffers 57 at their ends and have side out-lets 56.
