Abstract
1371424 Cable guides W MœLLER [trading as WILHELM MœLLER MASCHINENFABRIK] 7 April 1972 16050/72 Heading B7L A guidance device, for a travelling cable or rope 5 equipped with driving members 6 to propel a vehicle on a single-rail suspension railway or ground conveyer, comprises a framework 1 supporting flanged guide rollers 2 with their flanges 3 touching each other so as to define an enclosed guiding opening 4 for the travelling cable 5, the rollers 2 being arranged to allow the passage of the driving members 6, the flanks 7 of the touching flanges 3 forming wedges which are convex with respect to the opening 4 and the apices 8 of these wedges being nearer to the longitudinal central axis of the opening 4 than are the bottoms 9 of the troughs formed between the flanges 3 of each roller 2. Preferably three rollers 2 are employed, arranged at 120 degrees to each other with one having its axis of rotation horizontal and the remaining two rollers being above, as shown for a suspension railway, or below for a ground conveyer. As shown in Fig. 2, the angle α of the upper flanks 7 of the top rollers 2 to the horizontal is small to avoid any tendency for the cable 5 to stick in the hollow 10, and the two top rollers 2 between their flanges 3 each converge towards the upper flange by an angle # with respect to its axis of rotation so as to deepen these hollows 10.
