Abstract

1292757 High voltage switches COQFRANCE SA 13 Jan 1971 [14 Jan 1970] 1644/71 Heading H1N A metal clad switch has a movable contact 8 which in one position bridges two fixed contacts 4 and in the other position engages with an earthed contact 10a. The movable contact 7 carrying a metal member 11 which forms a screen between the disconnected contacts 4 to prevent arcing between them. The member 11 is toroidal (Fig. 1, not shown). The metal enclosure A is filled with an insulating fluid and may; be associated with similar enclosures B, C filled with the same or different fluids. In the earthed position the contact 7 engages a plunger 12a closing the circuit of an indicator lamp 14. In a simpler version (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) the plunger is merely pushed out to give a visual indication. Alternatively (Fig. 1, not shown) the operating spindle 7 of the contact may be hollow and contain a concentrics pindle also attached to the movable contact and operating an indicator outside the housing.
