1292409 Boring earth and rock VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT BUROVOI TEKHNIKI 7 May 1971 13626/71 Heading E1F Rotary drilling apparatus comprises a pilot bit 10 and lateral bits such as 19, 20, 21 freely rotatable in body members 13, 14, 15 which are rigidly connected with a drill string 1 for rotation therewith. The bits may be cone, disc or diamond bits. The hole may be drilled using all the lateral bits, or may be initially drilled with the body members 14, 15 removed, and then reamed out with these members replaced in position. Direct or reverse circulation may be used. In a modification having only two lateral bits, loading weights are provided.
