Abstract

1291756 Cargo containers FLITEFORM Ltd 20 Sept 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 45350/70 Heading B8P A cargo container has posts 17 secured to both the base 1 and the top 23 and a side wall 6 hinged about a horizontal edge. The posts are secured by nuts 18 to bosses in the base and top. The wall 6 is of corrugated aluminium and has along the bottom an extrusion formed with a hook-shaped extension which mates with a similar member 9 on the base to form the pivot for the wall. The opposite side wall 7 may be shaped at 7<SP>1</SP> to fit the cargo hold of an aeroplane and is either permanently fixed to the base and top, or hinged, like wall 6. The other side walls 13 are each made of a fabric having a tube 13 to secure the wall to the top and a latch strip 12<SP>1</SP> having latches 35 operable simultaneously or individually to engage fittings 10 in the base. Each wall 13 is stiffened by bars 13<SP>1</SP> engageable with studs 36 in the posts and interlocked with diagonal bracing. The base, the top, shelves 21 which are adjustable mounted on the posts, and a shelf 22 which is hinged to the side wall 7 are each made of balsa wood faced with aluminium alloy.
