Abstract
1288764 Pipe couplings PORTER-LANCASTRIAN Ltd 11 Dec 1969 [12 Dec 1968] 59040/68 Heading F2G [Also in Division B8] A coupling element 14 for location in a container cap 13 comprises a spigot 16 having an open end 19 to accept a co-operating coupling element 5, a valve 27 controlling one or more parts 18 in the spigot wall, and one or more purge ports 28 connected to a manual valve 67. Entry of the element 15 into element 14 causes a transverse pin 62 in the former to contact a spindle 27 in the latter operating valve piston 17 which partially uncovers parts 18. Air is expelled from the container liner through ports 18 to the purge ports 28 and valve 67. Further movement of the element 15 within element 14 causes valve piston 17 to further uncover ports 18 and an open-ended cylinder 61 integral with a valve 46 in element 15 to abut shoulder 22 in element 14 and thus open valve 46, allowing fluid to enter the container to fill the liner via valve ports 56, element 14, and the ports 18. When the container is full a coupling element (71, Fig. 4, not shown) with a non-return valve is screwed on to element 15 and the coupling element is connected to a dispenser system.
