Abstract
1288438 L - Asparaginase compositions MERCK & CO Inc 2 Nov 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 52036/70 Headings C3H and C3P A composition comprising L-asparaginase entrapped in a matrix of a synthetic resin gel, preferably a copolymer of acrylamide and N,N<SP>1</SP>- methylene bis acrylamide, may be used in the treatment of leukaemia and lymphomas. The polymer is preferably polymerizable in aqueous solution and capable of forming a highly crosslinked lattice, e.g. dextrans, poly-amino acids, caprolactam polymers, polyacrylic acid and regenerated cellulose. In the examples acrylamide and N,N<SP>1</SP>- methylene-bis-acrylamide are copolymerized in the presence of L-asparaginase in aqueous solution by photochemical activation in the presence of riboflavin and/or by use of free radical initiators such as ammonium persulphate, in presence of tetramethylethylenediamine.
