Abstract

1286664 Papermaking JOH KLEINEWEFERS SOHNE 10 Oct 1969 [23 Oct 1968] 49789/69 Heading D2A [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for matt-glazing paper comprises at least one support roller having a rolling surface of elastic synthetic material, and a metal glazing roller having a corrugated rolling surface, the paper being arranged to pass between the support roller and the glazing roller. As shown, support rollers 1 and 2 provided with cooling air blowers 6, also have glazing rollers 3 and 4. At least one of the rollers may have a bore or bores for passage of a coolant liquid. This arrangement matt-glazes both sides of the paper. A different route for the paper (Fig. 2, not shown) glazes only one side. The glazing roller may have a surface of matt chrome plating and be of cast steel. One side only of the paper may be matt-glazed by using rollers 1 and 3 only.
