1286576 Boots &c D B LEA 23 Nov 1970 55558/70 Heading A3B An article of footwear, e.g. a sandal, consists of an upper 6 and a sole and heel unit 2, the upper 6 being removably attached to the sole and heel unit 2 so that it can be exchanged with another upper of different style and/or colour. The upper 6 is secured by stud 7 and socket 8 fastening means. The studs 7 on opposite sides of the sole 2 may be joined by a screw (not shown) passing through the middle of the sole and acting as a reinforcement. An interchangeable insock (not shown) may also be secured to the upper surface of the sole unit 2 by means of a multiple hook and loop fastener.
