1,131,451. Boots &c. BREVITT SHOE MFRS. Ltd. and A. ATLAS. 2 Nov., 1965 [2 Nov., 1964], No. 44593/64. Heading A3B. A shoe is prevented from slipping over the wearer's heel by one or more resilient elements disposed within the rear portion of the upper and which engage the wearer's heel, one of the resilient elements taking the form of a strip of elastic material 7 which passes through two slits 6 in the lining and is secured thereto under tension so that the strip 7 bridges the two slits. Additional resilient elements may be pads 12 of foamed material at each side of the upper which engage the hollows on each side of the wearer's foot. The pads 12 and strip 7 may be secured by stitching and/or adhesive.
