Abstract

1285172 Washing hollow articles VICKERS Ltd 8 Aug 1969 [20 Aug 1968] 39855/68 Heading B8T Drying mechanism 16 is generally symmetrical about a central vertical axis and has a bore 19 opening at a lower hemispherical end 17 of the mechanism 16 where radial grooves 20 may be cut. The upper end of the bore 19 is connected via a tube 18 to a vacuum system so that, when the mechanism is moved down a container 5 of regular cross-section, air forced between the mechanism and the inside container wall sweeps adherent droplets of liquid 22 down the container. This liquid is removed from the bottom of the tube through the bore 19 and the vacuum system. The inside of the container 5 may be coated with vitreous carbon to coalesce the liquid into droplets 22. The mechanism 16 may be used in conjunction with a washing and rinsing apparatus including a table, Fig. 1 (not shown), intermittently rotatable beneath rinsing nozzles 11. Cleaning fluid supplied through a conduit (13), Fig. 2 (not shown), in each nozzle is largely removed when drain conduits (14) connected to vacuum are lowered.
