Abstract
1284177 Basic oxazine dyestuffs FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 15 May 1970 [16 May 1969] 23698/70 Heading C4P A dyestuff of the Formula I where R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl, R 2 is hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl and X<SP>(-)</SP> is an anion, which gives reddishblue to reddish-violet shades on polyacrylonitrile fibres, is prepared by nitrosating, in an aqueous solution of a mineral acid, an amine of Formula II rearranging the nitrosamine to obtain the corresponding p-nitroso compound, and condensing the aqueous suspension of the mineral acid salt of the p-nitroso compound, without intermediate isolation, with a m-aminophenol of the Formula III Preferably the process is carried out at a temperature of 60‹ to 100‹ C. and a pH of 2 to 3. The process may be carried out in the presence of a polyglycol having a molecular weight of 500 to 5000 or in the presence of a C 1-3 alkanol.
