Abstract
1,183,661. Water-soluble disazo dyestuffs. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 7 March, 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 11119/68. Heading C4P. The invention comprises water-soluble disazo dyestuffs of the general formula wherein D 1 and D 2 are benzene or naphthalene residues free from vinyl sulphone groups, X is H or a sulphonic acid group, m and n are 0 or 1 and m + n is 1. They are prepared by coupling 1 mole of a 1 -amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene sulphonic acid with 1 mole of a diazo compound of an amine in an acid medium, e.g. pH 0.5 to 2 and subsequently with 1 mole of a diazo compound of an amine at pH 3 to 8, D 1 , D 2 , m and n being as defined above. The dyes dye wool, silk, leather, polyamides, linen, cotton and regenerated cellulose in blue to black shades.
