1283211 Benzoylamino - guanidine acidaddition salts UNILEVER-EMERY NV 12 Aug 1969 [14 Aug 1968] 40285/69 Heading C2C [Also in Division C5] The invention comprises acid addition salts of the formula wherein R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, OH, halogen or NO 2 , and X n - is an anion of a mono-, di- or polycarboxylic acid containing from 6-40 C atoms with n indicating the number of COOH groups. They may be obtained by forming an intermediate amide from aminoguanidine bicarbonate and a benzoic acid, and reacting this amide with a salt-forming mono-, di- or polycarboxylic acid containing from 6-40 C atoms. Examples are given for the preparation of N- guanidinosalicylamide and N-guanidino-benzamide and their salts with aliphatic carboxylic acids. The salts are useful as metal deactivators for lubricants.
