Abstract
A method for the preparation of fluorine-substituted thiaxanthenes of the formula **(See formula)** where X is (see formula) or (see formula) and Y (see formula) or (see formula), where Ac is an acyl radical or an aliphatic carboxylic acid having from one to 17 carbon atoms, inclusive, and their acid addition salts, characterized in that it comprises reacting a compound of the formula: **(See formula)** where X is as previously defined, with an amine of the formula **(See formula)** where Y is as previously defined, at elevated temperatures to obtain a compound of formula I, and isolating the compound of formula I as the free base or its non-toxic acid addition salt, and if desired, esterifying any group hydroxy present with a reactive derivative of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 1 to 17 carbon atoms inclusive, and if desired, separating its individual isomers in a conventional manner.
