Abstract
1281765 Valves LABORATOIRE SUISSE DE RECHERCHES HORLOGERES 6 Aug 1970 [25 Aug 1969] 37963/70 Heading F2V A valve comprises a perforated member 8, Fig. 1, rotatable between elements 10 to control flow through ports 9 and 11, the facing surfaces of member 8 and elements 10 having an optical precision finish of at least 2/10 #5500 Š and a hardness on the Vickers scale of at least HV = 600 kg./mm.<SP>2</SP>, springs 12 pressing the surfaces against one another so as to obtain a fluid-proof joint without the aid of a gasket or other sealing means. The facing surfaces comprise sintered carbides, a thermochemical deposit of titanium carbide, or a diffusion layer obtained by chromization. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, a ported plate 18 is rotatable to align ports 19 with ports 22 in two facing plates. Rotation is limited to 60 degrees by a slot 20 in which the operating handle 17 moves or by a pin-and-slot arrangement 26, 27. A ball 29 acts as a locking element for the plate. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, a perforated spherical member 33 is clamped between perforated elements 31 and 32 by means 34. The member 33 is provided with twenty-three perforations (only four of which are shown) and is moved through a neutral position, in which all the perforations are closed, before moving to another aligned position.
