Abstract

1281081 Threshold seals BERNARD DIXON & PARTNERS Ltd 27 Jan 1970 [6 Jan 1969] 786/69 Heading E1J A door sealing device comprises a rigid seal holding member 1 vertically adjustably attached to the lower part of the surface of the door 2 and having a downwardly open channel 8, preferably part-circular, which retains the major part of a preferably cylindrical elastomeric sealing member 9, and a rigid threshold strip 14 attached to the floor to be aligned with and to contact the sealing member 9 when the door is closed. The seal holding member 1 is horizontally and vertically adjustable on the door by means of slots 4, 5, &c through which securing screws 3 pass, the slots being covered by washers 6, 7, &c and the slots 'being staggered to prevent the timber from splitting. The threshold strip 14 has rounded edges 15, 16 and a flat top and is fixed to the floor by screws 11, 12, 13 in a line offset from the centre line of the strip so that the sealing member 9 does not contact the screws (the door closing direction shown by arrow 17). The sealing member 9 may extend slightly beyond the door edges to contact the frame. The seal holder 1 and threshold strip 14 may be of hardened aluminium, and the sealing member 9 of neoprene.
