Abstract

1280817 Curtain heading tapes; take-up motions THOMAS FRENCH & SONS Ltd 11 Aug 1969 [20 Aug 1968] 39763/68 Headings D1E and D1K A curtain heading tape is woven with 32 picks/inch divided equally between the back and face of the pockets and, in the single ply region between the pockets, with 18 picks/ inch. Each pick consists of a loop laid by a needle. A two speed take-up motion is described to vary the pick density. Take-up motion: A shaft 100 has a gear 102 driving a high speed gear 106 and a gear 101 driving a low speed gear 105. The gear 105 is mounted on a "free-wheel" sleeve 108 which drives a take-up shaft 107 at a low speed. The gear 106 is mounted on a sleeve 109 on which is a clutch member 111 which is axially slidable to engage the high speed gear 106 to the take-up shaft 107 so that it drives the shaft and overruns the free-wheel. The clutch member is dobby operated.
