Abstract

128,043. Wittmann, J. H. July 15, 1918. Folding bedsteads.-Relates to a collapsible camp bedstead with a removable canopy. A supporting-leg 7 and a stay 21 are connected by fittings with split pins to cross-bars 3, 4 arranged in pockets in the ends of the canvas bed bottom 1. A detent 28 pivoted to the stay 21 and a rack 29 on the leg 7 permit relative adjustment of these parts. The head cross-bar 3 is adapted to be attached readily to a motor-car or other support above the ground. A rope 31 is provided to draw the stay 21 downwards and stretch the canvas 1. Guy ropes 32 may be connected to the foot cross-bar 4 by snap hooks. In the case of a double bed, the leg 7 and stay 21 are duplicated and the guy ropes 32 may be dispensed with. The canopy 37 is adapted to be secured to the side of a motor-car by straps 49<1>, and is formed with pockets 46 extending below the bed bottom on which rest horizontal flaps 47 and a cross-band connecting the sides of the canopy. Ventilation openings 56 are provided in the sides, and openings for access to the bed are formed between the sides and top end of the canopy.
