Abstract

1280324 Automatic control of speed ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 10 Oct 1969 [12 Oct 1968] 49752/69 Heading G3R The fuel injector 16 of an I. C. engine is adjusted by the output of a regulating amplifier 15 having one input from a regulator 13 in which a desired speed signal is compared with an actual speed signal and a second input from a signal representative of the setting of the injector (from a potentiometer 27). The regulating amplifier Fig. 5 (not shown) comprises a transistor differential amplifier in which the two inputs are compared and a transistor output stage which controls the energization of an outlet valve 83 in a hydraulic system 81 ... 85 and 21, 22 which adjusts the injector. The arrangement is such that loss of energization allows a spring 26 to set the injector to off. The speed is detected by an A. C. tachogenerator 12, and this is also connected to an overspeed circuit 20 comprising a bi-stable transistor circuit which changes its condition when an upper speed limit is reached and applies a voltage to the regulating amplifier which puts the injector to off. The engine must then be restarted, and a fusible link re-placed if such is provided. The control system operates within load/speed characteristics having non-linear boundaries, Fig. 3 (not shown).
