Abstract

1279090 Hoes A K ENGLAND 29 Dec 1969 [30 Dec 1968] 61550/68 Heading A1B [Also in Division B4] A percussive or hoeing hand tool has an auxiliary handle 1 spaced perpendicularly from the longitudinal axis of the hand tool handle by more than 5 inches measured at a distance of between 4 and 5 inches along the longitudinal axis from the end of the hand tool handle secured to the tool head. The handle 1 may be attached to hoe blade 3 by welding. In another embodiment the handle is secured to one blade of a pickaxe by wedging means, Fig. 2 (not shown). A further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates a handle attached to an axe by a releasable clamp. The auxiliary handle may be made of steel, wood or plastics.
