Abstract

1278646 Intruder alarms SHORROCK DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 12 June 1970 [19 June 1969 11 July 1969] 31013/69 and 35002/69 Heading G4N A protective barrier or fence comprises a meshed netting, the strands of which include at least two conductors formed by a conductive coating protected by an insulating coating and a continuous current alarm device arranged to respond to interruption of any of said conductors. The ends of the conductors are located in terminal boxes so that the connections may be interchanged at random times. The fence may be formed of PVC- or polythene-coated steel wire with a conductive layer painted on some of the wires and a further protective coating applied to all the wires so that those having a conductive coating are indistinguishable from the others. In the circuit shown, wires 53 and 54 are formed into a loop arranged to operate an alarm device 50, if interrupted; whilst wires 59, 60 are formed into a further loop monitored by alarm device 51. A further alarm device 52 operates if the loops are short-circuited to each other. Alternatively, the current may be passed through the steel cores. The netting may form a self-contained fence or may be buried in a wall and may be used in conjunction with a standing-wave or rotating-beam detector.
