1278396 Delivering sheets RICOH KK 19 April 1971 [6 April 1970 20 June 1970 22 July 1970 29 July 1970] 23827/71 Heading B8R A sheet distributing device includes feed rollers 3a to 3v, e.g. co-operating with endless belts 4, drivable in a first direction to feed sheets along a feed path and means for driving a selected roller, e.g. 3s, in an opposite direction to said first direction, whereby said selected roller cooperates with the adjacent upstream roller 3r to feed a sheet 50 to a sheet support 2r. A feed roller may be associated with each support. Sheets may be fed to the device via endless belts 6 and a guide 7, sets of rollers 3a to 3v and the associated shelves 2a to 2u being located in a vertical, or horizontal, Fig. 12 (not shown), array. Each roller set may be driven by a belt (18), Fig. 2 (not shown), driven by pulleys (11), (13) rotatably mounted on a plate (17) which can be moved laterally so that drive rollers (12), (14) on each pulley shaft (15), (16) engage either run of drive belts (20), (21), this effecting selective reversal of a roller set. Alternatively, the shaft (8), Fig. 5 (not shown), of each roller set may have rotatably mounted thereon sprockets (29), (30), a control wheel (31) rotatable with the shaft being slid into engagement with one or other of the sprockets, which are continuously rotated in opposite directions, by a plate (33) when engaged by a roller (39) on a movable member 41. This member may be mounted on a timing chain 44 and have a sheet deflecting arm 48 which senses the passage of a sheet to a shelf and thereafter causes the chain to index member 41 to another position so that a succeeding sheet is deflected to a different shelf. A spring deflector (42), Fig. 7 (not shown), at each shelf entrance may replace this arrangement.
