Abstract
127,796. Holmes, J. R. March 3, 1919. Stands for apparatus; arrangements at stations.- Relates to means for attaching or mounting on ships' sides &c., life-buoy lights of the type which ignite spontaneously on contact with the water. A strip b of metal &c., provided with eyelets c, c<1> by which it is lashed to the ship's rail &c., has fixed to it a tongue d adapted to engage in a socket d<1> on the casing of the light a. The casing is formed at the bottom and top respectively with an ingress hole for the water and an egress hole for the spontaneously inflammable gas, and over these holes are soft-soldered strips h, g of lead &c., the strip h being hard-soldered at i to the bent end of the strip b, and the strip g being connected through an eyelet f to an eyelet e loose on the strip b. The buoy is attached to the eyelet j, and, when launched, acts to release the light from the hook d and to tear off the strips g, h.
