Abstract

1277195 Abrading LEAVLITE Ltd 7 July 1969 [5 July 1968 9 Aug 1968] 32141/68 and 38072/68 Heading B3D A method of cleaning an abrasive element, such as a belt, wheel or map, comprises creating relative movement between the clogged abrasive surface of the element and a member formed of synthetic resinous material having a melting point between 145‹ and 180‹ C., and pressure the member against the element until at least some of any material clogging the surface is removed. The member may be of tubular form 1, Fig. 1, and applied to the surface of an abrasive belt 2 so as to become softened and combine with compounds and particles on the surface. Upon cooling and solidification, the combined particles fall away from the wheel surface. When all clogging material is removed, the member is no longer softened but is ground away. In another embodiment, the member is in the form of a strip adjustably mounted on a support movable towards and away from the abrasive surface.
