Abstract
1276359 Anthranilic acid derivatives ROUSSEL UCLAF 1 Aug 1969 [2 Aug 1968 31 Oct 1968 (2)] 38750/69 Heading C2C Novel anthranilic acid derivatives of the Formula I: wherein R is H or C 1-5 alkyl; and (a) X is 0R 5 , wherein R 5 is H or C 1-5 alkyl; R 1 and R 2 each are H, halogen, OH, which may, if desired, be esterified, or alkoxy, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R 3 is in the 4- or 5- position and is H halogen, OH, which may, if desired, be esterified, or alkoxy, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; and R 4 is in the 2- or 3-position and is H, halogen, alkoxy, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; providing at least one of the groups R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 is other than H and that when R 3 or R 4 are Cl, Br, CH 3 or OCH 3 , at least one of the groups R 1 and R 2 is other than H; or (b) X is an amino group; and R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 each are H, halogen, OH, which may, if desired, be esterified, alkoxy, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; R 3 being in the 4- or 5-position and R 4 in the 2- or 3-position; providing at least one of the groups R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 is other than H, and that when R 3 is OCH 3 in the 4-position, at least one of the groups R 1 , R 2 and R 4 is other than H; are prepared by reaction of the appropriate anthranilic acid derivatives with the corresponding benzoic acids or functional equivalent thereof. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral, parenteral, topical or rectal administration, contain the above novel compounds in association with carriers or excipients. The compounds possess anti-inflammatory and/or analgesic properties.
