Abstract

1,271,867. Filter element. A.M.F. Inc. 2 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 48452/69. Heading B1D. A filter element comprises a porous cylindrical core portion, the outer periphery of which is provided with a plurality of layers of filter media each outward consecutive layer being coarser than the adjacent inner layer, each layer being formed of a plurality of turns in spiral form from a continuous sheet of filter medium. The core may comprise a cylinder made of plastic, plastic reinforced fibre mesh, or a porous metallic cylinder. The filter media may comprise unwoven cloth, filter cloth, filter paper, foam sheet or wire net. Relative mesh sizes are exemplified.
