Abstract

1,270,904. Centrifugal strainer. BRAUNSCHWEIGISCHE MASCHINENBAUANSTALT. 5 June, 1970 [21 Feb., 1970], No. 27390/70. Heading BID. A continuously operating sugar centrifuge comprises a feed plate 5 on the driving shaft 3 with a cup-shaped depression and a raised and in-turned upper periphery 7, 8 and connected by struts 12, parallel to the axis, to an accelerating "cone" 11 having an upper portion 13 with a large generating angle and portions 14 and 16 which are respectively cylindrical and turned in at an angle α not exceeding 10‹ to the axial direction. The base of the screen drum 1 is formed with a short cylindrical section 19 and a conical portion 20 leading to the screen 21 which rests on a fabric support 22. The configuration of the feed plate 5 and accelerating "cone" 11 is such that the flow of the massecuite is resisted at points in its passage from the feed plate 5 to the drum 1 so that it becomes more uniformly distributed.
