Abstract

1,268,034. Inflatable vascular clamp. D. C. DUNN. 12 Nov., 1970 [7 Feb., 1970], No. 6003/70. Heading A5R. An inflatable vascular clamp comprises an elongate hollow body, at least one wall of which is flexible, the body being able to be curved to embrace a blood vessel to be clamped with the flexible wall on the inside of the curve, and being provided with an inlet tube for inflating the body with air or water. To ensure that the clamp expands primarily inwards to compress the blood vessel, a stiffer backing may be provided on the outside of the body. Preferably this backing is also of flexible material, secured to the wall of the body, or constituted by a thickening of the wall itself. As shown, the inlet comprises a tube 7 that may be connected to a valve and a pump. The inflatable body is threaded around blood vessel 1 by means of filament 6 and secured by ring 8. The clamp is also suitable for use as a sling for moving blood vessels.
