Abstract
1,266,013. Moulding powder. TRW Inc. 24 Feb., 1969 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 9815/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H1] Apparatus for fabricating tantalum anodes for capacitors includes die members 14, 16, punches 24, 26, an elastomeric enclosure comprising slabs 68, 76 of relatively soft elastomer with cavities 70 for the powder and holes 80 for tantalum wire. Rims 74, 78 of relatively hard elastomer are provided and form seals with the die wall. On compressing the assembly the wire ends are received in the powdered compacts which are then sintered. The powder is thereby isostatically compressed to provide compacts having substantially uniform porosity.
