Abstract
1,265,090. Orienting articles. INSTITUT FIZIKI AN LATVIISKOI SSR. 17 Dec., 1969, No. 61625/69. Heading B8S. Electrically conductive bodies 1 positioned randomly are introduced by shoot 2 and fall downwards through a non-uniform alternating magnetic field provided by an electromagnet 3. The field causes relative horizontal displacement of the bodies dependent upon the position of the different sides so that bodies of one orientation fall into one shoot 7 and bodies of the other orientation fall into the other shoot 7. In this way all the bodies are delivered uniformly orientated as shown. Additionally an alternating magnetic field is provided between magnets 4 which assist in keeping the bodies in the parallel position. (For Figure see next page)
