1,265,040. Dentifrices. COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO. 15 Dec., 1969 [20 Dec., 1968; 19 Nov., 1969], No. 61033/69. Heading A5B. Dentifrice compositions comprise a watersoluble monofluorophosphate and a water-insoluble compatible polishing agent comprising a mixture of an alkaline earth metal carbonate and one or more agents selected from alkali metal metaphosphates, alumina and mixtures thereof, the weight ratio of carbonate to metaphosphate (if present) being in the range 3:1 to 1000:1 and that of carbonate to alumina (if present) being from 1:3 to 100:1. Conventional additives (e.g. gelling agents, humectants and detergents) may also be present. Compositions not containing alumina are stated to be capable of being packed in unlined aluminium containers.
