Abstract
1,264,498. Measuring liquid level electrically. SIEMENS A.G. May 7, 1969 [May 8, 1968], No.23289/69. Heading G1N. A device for mesauring the level of a liquid, 2 in a pressure chamber comprises a buoyancy member 1, suspended from a lever, 4, so that variations of liquid level produce corresponding variations of the force acting on the lever which force is transmitted as a torque through a lever spindle 5 and torsion tube 6 to produce bending of a bending element 9 carrying strain gauges, 11, arranged in a bridge circuit. An end of the spring is mounted on a rigid yoke 14 secured to a housing 20 by two leaf-springs 13, disposed orthogonally of the spindle axis, so that small axial displacements of the spindle, due to variations of temperature or static pressure in the chamber, produce no electrical output signal. Alternative arrangements of couplings and leaf-springs are illustrated in Figs.2 and 3 (not shown), whilst Fig.4 (not shown) illustrates a spring bellows to take up axial displacements of the spindle.
