Abstract
1,264,147. 6-Aminopenicillanic acid. E. R. SQUIBB & SONS Inc. 18 Feb., 1969, No. 8729/69. Heading C2A. A process for preparing 6-APA comprises contacting a penicillin with a penicillin-splitting enzyme which has been separated from its fermentation broth, in an aqueous alkaline medium, maintaining the alkalinity with ammonia or an amine and recovering the product. The enzyme is suitably adsorbed on bentonite.
