Abstract

1,263,711. Lamp failure alarms. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 12 June, 1969 [1 July, 1968], No. 31263/68. Heading G4N. In a road vehicle, a lamp failure alarm, comprising a first circuit including a lighting switch 15 and a diode 6, illuminates a lamp 7, which upon failure operates an alarm 23 through the opening of a second circuit normally closed to produce a small current insufficient to illuminate lamp 7, the second circuit comprising an ignition switch 11, a resistor 8 and a transistor 9a. Opening of the second circuit turns off transistor 9a and a transistor 17, which normally shunts current from a diode 19. Conduction by diode 19 turns on a Darlington pair 20, 21 and an alarm lamp 23 is illuminated. The alarm lamp 23 may be connected to a plurality of lamps 7 with corresponding first and second circuits, the second circuits forming an OR gate and comprising single transistors (9, Figs. 1, 2, not shown).
