Abstract

1,033,370. Visible signalling apparatus; road traffic signals on vehicles; lamp failure warning devices. J. BECQUET. Aug. 19, 1963, No. 32789/63. Headings G4F, G4N and G4Q. A flashing light circuit comprises a first circuit having resistance, capacitance and a relay winding and a second circuit having a lamp and contacts of the relay. In a vehicle turn indicator system, Fig. 3 (not shown), operation of the turn switch to position G, say, charges capacitor 2 through relay 3 energizing the relay. When capacitor 2 is fully charged the relay releases closing contacts 5 to discharge the capacitor through resistor 4, and the cycle repeats. Further contacts on the relay connect the supply intermittently to left turn indicator lamps 10, 11, 12, 16 on the vehicle and a trailer. The contacts are also arranged to operate high resistance pilot lamps 8 . . . 8e. With the contacts in the position shown, lamps 8, 10 are in series and lamp 8, having a high resistance, is lit when the contacts change over, lamp 8 is shorted out and lamp 10 lit. Failure of lamp 10 prevents pilot lamp 8 from lighting.
