Abstract

1,262,669. Tyre treads. E. F. BAXTER. 17 March, 1969, No. 13773/69. Heading B7C. A solid or pneumatic tyre is provided with visual wear indicating means, throughout at least three quarters of the axial width of the tread over the entire circumference of the tyre, at a depth of 1 mm. or approximately 1 mm. in the tread measured from the innermost radial point of the tread. The means may comprise different coloured elastomers, a layer of textile fabric, parallel metal or textile and fabric, metal particles which may be light reflecting and which may also form an antiskid device, or a strip of elastomer of contrasting shade or pattern. Visible wear indicating means may be provided at depths additional to the 1 mm. depth and more than one means may be provided at the arced level. The tyre may be cast or moulded or built in the usual way.
