Abstract

1,261,893. Screw sockets. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 22 July, 1969 [9 Aug., 1968], No. 38068/68. Heading F2H. [Also in Division F4] In a headlamp assembly of the type comprising a lamp unit which is adjustably mounted in a support member by means of at least one screw rotatably mounted on the unit and engaging a nut fixed to the support member, the nut is moulded in synthetic resin and includes a first hollow part 13 which engages the front face of the support member 11 and mates. with the shank of the screw and a second hollow part 14 which engages the rear faceof the support member and defines a cover for the screw. The first. part includes an hexagonal portion 13e which fits non-rotatably in a correspondingly shaped hole 15 in the support member, and a tapering spigot 13a which projects through the hole andinto the part 14, to which it is ultrasonically welded. The nut has integral, internal, axially-extending fingers (13d), which are deformed by the screw to provide mating screwthreads.
