1,261,358. Coatings. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. 20 Nov., 1968 [22 Nov., 1967; 23 Oct., 1968; 13 Nov., 1968], No. 55175/68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C5] Metal workpieces are provided with a solid lubricant coating by coating with 5-60 wt% aqueous solution of a composition comprising 80-20 parts of a water soluble surface active agent and 20-80 parts by wt. of a watersoluble phenolic, alkyd, phenol alkyd acrylic or nylon resin, and then drying. The composition may also contain 1-50 parts of a water soluble or emulsive oil e.g. a hydrocarbon cutting oil. The surface active agent may be anionic e.g. Na, K or NH 4 <SP>+</SP> soaps, cationic e.g. an aliphatic amine salt, or nonionic e.g. a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether or polyoxyethylene sorbitan ether or ester.
