Abstract

1,260,438. Driving trailer wheels. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 24 Dec., 1969 [25 Dec., 1968], No. 62953/69. Heading B3H. The speed differential between two interconnected vehicles, e.g., a tractor and trailer is controlled by sensing means responsive to relative movement between two parts each movable with one of the two vehicles to adjust the speed of the towed vehicle. As shown, a tractor 2 tows a trailer 7 through a draw bar 3 and trailer hitch 6. A detector 5 having a spring urged plate (6a) Fig. 3 (not shown) actuates a lever 18, Fig. 1, which controls a valve 11, in response to the speed differential between the tractor and trailer, to adjust the flow of oil between a hydraulic pump 25 and a motor 10 which drives the trailer wheels 8. In a modification, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown) a lever (18<SP>1</SP>) adjusts a variable displacement pump (33).
