Abstract

1,260,466. Filter aid. A. H. PRYOR. 6 Feb., 1969 [6 Feb., 1968], No. 5877/68. Heading BID. Particles of rigid polyurethane foam, of open or closed cell type, are used as filter aid when filtering swimming pool water, oils, solvents or varnishes of the alkyd resin or oil-based types. Particles are prepared by grinding and are used in various size ranges from 20 to 80 mesh per linear inch. The filter aid may be used to precoat a filter element or be mixed with the liquid being filtered. In an example an alkyd resin-white spirit mixture is heated and filtered through a pre-heated filter.
