Abstract

1,255,009. Reels. STEWART PLASTICS Ltd. 1 May, 1969 [1 May, 1968], No. 20556/68. Heading B8M. [Also in Division E2] A reel case comprises a first portion 3 having a projection 7 and a second portion 1 having an opening 13, the projection comprising a plurality of resilient fingers 18 shaped at their free ends to be deflected as the projection enters the opening before springing back to secure the portions 1 and 3 together, release mechanism being provided comprising a member 19 mounted for pushing over the free ends of the fingers to encircle the fingers as a group and push them out of their latching position. The projection 7 may be integral with portion 3 or is connected to the portion 3 by a bayonettype connection, a locking plug 11 being then cemented in position. The projection may then be of a different plastics material from that of portion 3. In a modification the shoulder of the opening engaged by the fingers is provided with an L-section ring 26 of tough plastics or metal and may be plated. A thimble 27 is also provided within the fingers to prevent damage should they be pushed inwardly with undue force.
