Abstract
1,254,100. Copolyamides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 23 Jan., 1969 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 3767/71. Divided out of 1,250,822. Heading C3R. A copolyamide contains in copolycondensed form at least 25 wt. per cent of an aminoacid, lactam or diamine and diacid free from other acid groups and up to 75 wt, per cent of Z-Ar-SO 2 -N.M-SO 2 -Ar<SP>1</SP>-Z<SP>1</SP> providing at least 750 m.Mols groups per kilogram. M is H, alkali metal or a ¢ equivalent of alkaline earth metal; Z and Z1 are each independently NH 2 or COOR; R is H or C 1-4 alkyl; and Ar and Ar<SP>1</SP> are each independently m- or p-phenylene. The polymers claimed in Specification 1,194,067 (i.e. those of R.V. above 2-0 measured on 1 g. in 100 ml. m-cresol at 20‹ C.) are disclaimed. In exs. 69-6 parts of the Na salt of 3,31-diaminodiphenyl disulphimide is condensed with 29 parts adipic acid and 100 parts caprolactan and 33-3 parts Li salt of the 4,4<SP>1</SP> isomer with 20À2 parts sebacic acid and 50 parts caprolactam. The polymers are hydrophilic and useful as adhesives, ion exchangers or impregnators.
