Abstract

1,248,939. Photographic processing apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Oct. 18, 1968 [Oct.20, 1967], No.49516/68. Heading G2A. Photographic film processing apparatus is provided with means for sensing the width of film 22 supplied thereto for feeding through developing, fixing washing and drying chambers thereof; with a control having an output proportional to the sensed width; and with a processing solution replenishment arrangement, controlled by this output, for replenishing at least one processing solution in the apparatus at a rate proportional to the film width. The film is fed into the apparatus over a table 20 having a recessed chamber 24 with apertures 26 in its top wall. Different width films cover more or less holes 26 thereby varying the amount of suction pressure generated in the chamber 24. The amount generated controls the movement of a piston 34 the piston in turn controlling a valve 40 in a processing solution supply conduit 42, feeding of a wide film resulting in valve 40 being opened further than for a narrow film. The piston 34 may also control other valves in the supplies of other processing solutions. The replenishment continues until film 22 has cleared the openings 26, when the valve 40 is returned to its original position. The valve opening may also be adjusted relative to the piston. 34 in dependence on the speed of film transport.
