Abstract

1,247,323. Radial arm saw. BLACK & DECKER MFG. CO. 9 Feb., 1970 [9 June, 1969], No. 6127/70. Heading B5L. [Also in Division H1] A radial arm saw comprises an electric motor powered saw unit 49 suspended from a carriage 43 for movement therewith along an arm 41, and switch means for turning said saw unit "on" and "off" which include a housing 59 on the free end of the arm. The switch means also includes a switch body within the housing, a switch lever pivoted on the switch body and accessible from outside the housing, the lever being movable from an "off" to an "on" position, resiliently biased locking means which include a resilient member within the housing which member is normally in a relatively unstressed condition positioned in the path of the lever to prevent movement thereof, and releasable means manually insertable into the housing to engage and move the resilient member out of its normal position to allow free pivotal movement of the lever.
