Abstract

1,244,595. Sheet grippers. POLYGRAPH LEIPZIG DRUCKMASCHINENWERK PLANETA RADEBEUL. VEB. 7 May, 1970, No. 22092/70. Heading B6C. In a printing machine the sheet grippers 2 are connected together but loosely mounted on a non-rotatable shaft 1 and a rod 12 is connected to one gripper the rod being subjected to an electromagnetic winding 4.3 and an electromagnetic winding 4.2. The gripping end 2.2 of the one gripper is attractable into sheet holding position by a further electromagnetic winding 9. All the windings are connected in a circuit which is controlled by a rotating connector disc 10 and contact points 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, the disc being rotatable in synchronism with the machine mounting the grippers. In operation, winding 4.2 attracts the grippers into sheet holding and gripping position and the winding 9 holds the grippers in this position. Winding 4.3 is a reverse winding and when energized causes the grippers to move to release position. In a modified arrangement the reverse winding 4.3 is replaced by a spring acting between a fixed point and the tip of the gripper remote from the end 22.
